Discover the Magic of Disney World Value Resorts

If you're planning to book one of Disney World's value resorts, but you are still deciding which one to choose or if they're even worth it, don't worry. You are in the right place! While some people have mixed opinions on these Disney hotels, I am a big fan of these properties. For many families, they offer a great balance of affordability, convenience, and that special Disney magic. Let's take a closer look at these fantastic resorts and what they have to offer.

Resort Categories at Walt Disney World: To navigate the enchanting world of Walt Disney World, it's helpful to understand the different resort categories available. Walt Disney World offers three categories: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. In this post, we'll focus on the Value Resorts and help you determine if they are the right choice for your magical vacation.

Disney World Value Resorts

If you're looking for the most budget-friendly options within the Walt Disney World property, the Value Resorts are your go-to choice. These resorts provide affordable accommodations without compromising on the Disney magic. While they may have fewer amenities compared to other resort categories, they offer everything you need for a fantastic Disney vacation.

Let's take a closer look at what you can expect at the Disney World Value Resorts:

  1. Accommodations and Facilities: All Value Resorts feature a main food court, a gift shop, a pool bar, and one or more pools for your relaxation and enjoyment. The resorts are set up in a motel-style configuration, with rooms facing directly outside. It's important to note that these resorts are quite large, so depending on your room's location, you may need to walk a bit to reach the bus stops or the food court. With the exception of the campgrounds, there is typically only one central bus stop area for transportation.

  2. Theming: These are the only resorts where you will have larger-than-life theming that really brings you into the middle of the atmosphere. From huge Disney movie characters to giant bowling pins, cowboy boots, and huge sporting equipment they're always something around the corner to immerse you in the theming. Now, some people say it's cheesy, but I personally think it's very kitchy and I love how you feel like you have stepped into a child-like wonderland.

  3. Pricing: The prices of Value Resorts at Walt Disney World can vary based on the time of year and availability. As of 2023, you can expect average prices for a standard room to range between $125 to $215 per night. However, during off-peak seasons or with special promotional offers, it's possible to find rooms closer to $115 per night. Make sure to check the special offers page on Walt Disney World's booking website for any available discounts!

Don't be fooled by the term "value." These resorts may have fewer amenities compared to their counterparts, but they still provide everything you need for a fantastic Disney vacation. After all, when you spend most of your time exploring the parks, you'll find that the resort's offerings are more than enough. So let's dive into the resorts in this category so you can make the best decision.

All-Star Resorts at Walt Disney World

The All-Star Resorts are a group of three resorts that offer unique themes and a fun-filled experience for Disney enthusiasts of all ages. Located in the Animal Kingdom Resort area, they are actually convenient to Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Depending on your preference, here's what you could choose from:

  • All-Star Movies Resort: Considered the most popular among the All-Star Resorts, All-Star Movies Resort is a haven for classic Disney cartoon lovers. This resort showcases beloved films like Toy Story, 101 Dalmatians, Fantasia 2000, The Mighty Ducks, and The Love Bug. With its movie theater-themed main pool, featuring elements from Fantasia, and a smaller pool inspired by The Mighty Ducks, the resort immerses guests in the world of Disney animation. The recently updated rooms provide modern accommodations with subtle Disney touches. Transportation options at All-Star Movies Resort include buses only.

  • All-Star Music Resort: All-Star Music Resort stands out as the only All-Star resort offering family suites. This hidden gem provides an excellent option for larger groups or families looking for extra space on a budget. The resort's themes revolve around larger-than-life musical instruments and include genres such as jazz, country, rock and roll, calypso, and Broadway. The main pool, shaped like a guitar, pays homage to The Three Caballeros, while a smaller pool resembles a keyboard and has a statue of Ariel. Buses are the primary mode of transportation at All-Star Music Resort.

  • All-Star Sports Resort: While All-Star Sports Resort awaits a full refurbishment (slated for 2023), it remains a fantastic choice for sports enthusiasts. The resort celebrates various sports, creating a vibrant atmosphere for guests. The planned refurbishment aims to enhance the overall experience and elevate the resort's charm. So, keep an eye out for the exciting changes coming soon!

The only downside to these resorts is that many youth travel programs will use these resorts when they visit Walt Disney World. Avoiding the time of year when cheer and band plan to travel would be advised if you are looking for a quiet resort. Also, we find the noise barriers in these rooms not to be the best. But if you travel with our Resort Room Must-Haves, you will be fine!

Pop Century Resort at Walt Disney World

If you're seeking a touch of nostalgia combined with affordability and convenience, look no further than Pop Century Resort. This is a fan favorite and doesn't disappoint. This resort stands out for its proximity to the Skyliner, providing easy access to Art of Animation and transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Pop Century Resort's vibrant and playful design captures pop culture from different decades. From larger-than-life icons to themed pools and a range of comfortable all all-updated rooms, it's an excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers who still crave a bit of whimsy.

Here you will find resort sections that represent the different decades from the 1950s through the 1990s. Pop icons line the resort as well as a spacious food court, pool bar, play ground, and three pools; The Hippie Dippy Pool, The Bowling Pool, and The Computer Pool.

The one downside to the resort, is that it has less recognizable Disney characters, especially for the younger crowd. Here you will find Lady & The Tramp, Mowgli & Baloo, Roger Rabbit, and a rotary phone of Mickey Mouse. The resort mainly focuses on the cultural icons of the time period which I find really fascinating, but if you really want to see more recognizable characters then you may want to stay at Art of Animation.

Art of Animation at Walt Disney World

Art of Animation Resort stands apart as a value-plus resort, offering a unique experience that's slightly different from traditional Value Resorts. Designed with families in mind, this resort primarily features family suites, making it an ideal choice for larger parties or those desiring extra space. Immerse yourself in the world of Disney animation as you explore larger-than-life characters from films like Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and Cars.

Art of Animation also provides standard rooms known as Little Mermaid Rooms. These rooms are not renovated to the new spacious style so you may feel a little cramped in them if you sleep 3-4 in the room. Here you will have a kids playground, splash pad, and three spacious pools. The Big Blue Pool is the largest pool at Walt Disney World and the main feature pool. You will also find adorably themed quiet pools at The Cozy Cone Pool and Flippin' Fins Pool. The resort's playful atmosphere, coupled with its proximity to the Skyliner and transportation options, ensures a truly magical stay.

Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

For a one-of-a-kind experience, venture into the wilderness at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. While the cabins are technically moderate level resorts the campground portion is is classified as a value resort and offers a range of camping options suitable for different preferences and budgets. From tent spaces to RVs and campers, there's something for everyone. Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground offers a serene and nature-filled setting, making it perfect for those seeking a unique way to enjoy their Walt Disney World vacation.

Are The Disney World Value Resorts For You?

Are the Value Resorts at Walt Disney World Right for Your Trip? Value Resorts are an excellent option for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize affordability and a touch of Disney magic. They are particularly appealing for families with younger children who will appreciate the fun-themed atmosphere. However, if you prefer alternative transportation options or seek a more luxurious resort experience, you may want to explore other resort categories within Walt Disney World.

Disney World Value Resorts offer an enchanting blend of affordability, convenience, and Disney magic. While they may have fewer amenities than other resort categories, they provide comfortable accommodations and a memorable experience for guests. Whether you choose the iconic All-Star Resorts, the nostalgia-filled Pop Century Resort, the animated wonderland of Art of Animation, or the outdoor escape of Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, you're sure to create unforgettable memories. So, pack your bags, fasten your seatbelts, and get ready for an extraordinary adventure at Walt Disney World, where affordable magic awaits!
