Discovering the Beauty and Theming of Coronado Springs Resort
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort takes pride in celebrating the vibrant blend of Spanish, Mexican, and Southwest American cultures. Located near Animal Kingdom, this moderate resort has three unique villages and Gran Destino tower that all sit around Lake Lago Dorado with 3 bridges that give you easy access to different areas of the property. Staying here gave us total relaxation vibes, and the amenities were amazing. We fell in love with the grounds right away!
The resort's Gran Destino tower stands out with its stunning architecture inspired by Salvador Dali's works. Even if you don't stay in the tower, you'll still have access to its amenities, restaurants, and lounges.
The resort's three villages, Cabanas, Ranchos, and Casitas, each offer a unique theming and atmosphere, allowing guests to immerse themselves in various cultural experiences. The Cabanas village celebrates the beauty of Mexico’s coastal regions with white sand beaches and brightly colored 2-story buildings. The Ranchos village features pueblo architecture in a desert setting with lots of cacti and rocky terrain. And the Casitas village showcases Southwestern city life with beautiful fountains, courtyards, and palm trees surrounding the 3 and 4-story buildings.
Standard Rooms: Surpassing Expectations
While the Gran Destino tower's rooms are known for their deluxe quality, the standard rooms in the villages at Coronado Springs Resort pleasantly surprised us. Refurbished in 2019, these rooms are nearly identical to the tower rooms, featuring charming theming inspired by beloved Disney attractions like the Three Caballeros.
Guests can choose between rooms with two queen beds or one king bed, both offering comfortable sleeping arrangements. The rooms also provide ample storage, a large desk area, convenient amenities like free in-room coffee and tea, a beverage mini-fridge, and a ceiling fan. Notable details include USB chargers and mini-reading lights in the headboards. The bathrooms feature separate shower and toilet areas, along with a two-sink vanity and additional storage space. The deluxe feel of these rooms perfectly complements the overall ambiance of the resort.
Location: A Convenient Hub for Disney World Adventures
Situated near Animal Kingdom and conveniently located between Epcot and Hollywood Studios, Disney World Coronado Springs Resort offers a prime location for guests eager to explore the parks. The one downside to this resort, though, is how you get to the theme parks. Disney bus transportation is your only option. Until recently, this wouldn’t have been a downside because only Deluxe resorts had multiple transportation options, but with the opening of the Disney Skyliner, you can now stay at a value and moderate resort with this option, so keep that in mind.
If bus transportation doesn’t bother you, we would highly suggest using the My Disney Experience App to know your bus times. Each village has a bus pick-up station. Busses come frequently to this resort, but traveling to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kindom can take between 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Something to keep in mind so that you can maximize your time and don’t have to wait around for the bus to arrive. And don’t forget if you have a car, theme park parking is free to resort guests.
Delectable Dining Options to Satisfy Every Palate
Coronado Springs Resort boasts a variety of dining choices that cater to different preferences.
Toledo and Barcelona Lounge, located atop the Gran Destino Tower, offer fine dining experiences and breathtaking Epcot firework views.
Mercado de Coronado, the quick-service restaurant, provides convenient options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While it may not have been our favorite in terms of flavor, it offered a similar experience to other quick-service meals.
Three Bridges Bar and Grill at Villa del Lago impresses with its beautiful open-air setting, lake views, and delectable menu items.
For a delightful poolside experience, Siesta Cantina serves amazing food and stands out as a must-try location.
Additionally, guests can indulge in the nightlife options at Rixs Sports Bar & Grill, Laguna Bar, and Dahlia Lounge, each offering unique atmospheres and delicious beverages.
And if you want a little more than a quick bite for breakfast, grab a reservation at Rex Sports Bar. They offer a full sit-down breakfast each morning.
This moderate resort offers the most dining options of any moderate resort on the property, making it a great choice for those looking for food options at their hotel.
Endless Activities for a Full Resort Day
Coronado Springs Resort offers a wealth of activities to ensure guests have a memorable resort day. The resort's courtyard provides a relaxing environment with grassy areas and lounge chairs overlooking the picturesque lake. Families can enjoy various lawn games under the shade of palm trees, participate in trivia games hosted by cast members, or watch a movie under the stars. Guests can also appreciate glimpses of Epcot's fireworks from certain vantage points. Panchitos, a shop located within the resort, offers a wide range of Disney-themed merchandise and essential items. The resort also stands out among the moderate resorts with its full gym, hair salon, and spa facilities. Guests can take advantage of gym classes, explore the jogging trails surrounding the lake, or join the Coronado Spring Fun Run for a fun-filled experience.
The Dig Site: A Marvelous Recreation Haven
At the heart of Coronado Springs Resort lies The Dig Site, an area brimming with exciting activities. Guests can engage in sand volleyball, explore the massive playground, and enjoy
gaming at the Iguana Arcade. The centerpiece of The Dig Site is the Lost City of Cibola Pool, a sprawling pool themed after Mayan ruins. This pool promises endless fun for all ages, featuring a captivating pyramid waterfall and a thrilling 123-foot-long waterslide with a spitting Jaguar spirit animal. The slide was so much fun we couldn’t stop riding it! A small kiddie splash area caters to younger guests, and ample lounge chairs are available for relaxation. And if you are unwinding from a long park day, you will find the largest hot tub on the Disney World Resort Property in this area. This is the perfect place to spend a day away from the theme parks.
But if you want some quiet time and want to get away from the crowds, don’t worry. Each village has its own leisure pool with lounge chairs and pool towels. These pools do not have lifeguards on duty but are much quieter than The Dig Site area and are perfect for relaxing.
