1. Breakfast at Sanaa Quick Service

First things first: food! Sanaa Quick Service is where you'll kick off your day. It's right by the main lobby in Kidani Village, so no need to trek far for your morning fuel if that's where you are staying. But don't worry if you are in the main house at Jambo. There is a convenient shuttle that will take you between the two.

Imagine this: You're sipping some African-inspired coffee while the kids go crazy over Mickey-shaped waffles. They've got everything from savory breakfast sandwiches to fluffy pancakes. And it's all pretty wallet-friendly, around $10 to $15 per person. And if you are feeling the adventure, you can get some amazing traditional African-inspired meals here, too! It's the perfect way to start your day!

2. 9 AM - Explore The Savannahs Around The Resort

Next up, it's time to channel your inner explorer and head out to the savannahs. Yep, you heard me right! You don’t need a park ticket to see giraffes and zebras here.

Early morning is the best time to catch the animals when they’re most active and playful. Stroll along the resort’s paths and keep those eyes peeled for all kinds of exotic wildlife. Jambo house has three different savannahs as well as viewing areas where you can sit and relax to view the animals. The cast members are super knowledgeable and love sharing fun facts about the animals. Be sure to have your questions ready to quiz them. Plus, those animal guides are perfect for quizzing your friends later.

3. 11 AM - Enjoy the Arcade and Kids Club

By now, the kids might need a break from all that walking (and, honestly, you might, too). Head over to the arcade or hit up the kids club for some indoor fun. This place is packed with games and activities to keep them entertained.

If you head to the arcade, you will need to purchase a game card to play. All of the games run on a points-to-play system, and you can buy points for your card starting at $5. They've got all the classics and some cool interactive games, too.

For those little artists, there are crafts you can buy and create inspired by African culture in the kids club. It's a win-win: they have fun, and you get a unique souvenir. If you are looking for free fun, the kids club always has coloring pages and an area to catch a Disney movie in the cool AC.

4. Lunch at The Mara - Family Day At Animal Kingdom Lodge

Lunchtime! The Mara is your go-to spot, conveniently located right by the Uzima Pool. It's casual, tasty, and has something for everyone.

Feast on everything from juicy burgers to fresh salads. And for around $15 to $20 per person, it’s a pretty sweet deal. The kids' menu is packed with all their favorites—pizza, chicken tenders, you name it. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a stress-free meal.

5. 1 PM - Splash into the Kidani Pool

Alright, it's time to cool off! The Kidani Pool is calling your name. It’s the perfect spot for some family fun in the sun. Now you may be thinking, "Why am I treking back to Kidani when I'm already by a pool at Jambo House". Well, if you have kids, you are going to really love the Kidani pool more.

The under-12 crowd will love the splash area/playground, and you’ll love the comfy loungers and shady spots to kick back and relax. There are two awesome water slides for those older kids looking for a bit of excitement. And don’t forget to grab a drink or snack at the Maji Pool Bar—because nothing says vacation like a poolside cocktail, am I right?

6. 4 PM - Choose Your Adventure

Now, here’s where you get to mix it up a bit. Once you have dried off, choose your next adventure:

  • For Little Kids: Head over to the Jambo House playground for fun. Let them run wild while you enjoy a bit of peace...and maybe even a refreshing drink from the adjacent pool bar.

  • For Older Kids: Stroll through the resort’s incredible African art collection. It is the largest collection of African Art outside of Africa. It's like a mini cultural adventure right in your backyard. And there are always cast members around who are able to give you more info on the pieces and the people who created them. Who knew learning could be this cool?

7. Dinner at Boma

Dinner time! Boma is the place to be, and it's just a hop, skip, and jump from wherever you are in the resort. This place is buzzing with energy, and the smells—oh, the smells!

Get ready for a buffet menu bursting with flavors. There's something for everyone, from hearty stews to mouthwatering meats and even some vegetarian delights. It’s about $35 to $45 per person, but trust me, it’s worth every penny. And the kids' buffet? They’ll be in food heaven with all their favorites, plus a few new things to try.

8. Evening Delight: Sunset Safari and Marshmallow Roasting

As the sun sets, head back to the Arusha Savannah for a magical view. The golden hues against the African landscape are seriously Instagram-worthy.

Gather around the fire pits for some good old-fashioned marshmallow roasting. The marshmallows and sticks are complimentary, but if you want a Mickey-shaped s'more, you can grab a kit for a small fee. It’s the perfect way to wind down, share some stories, and maybe even make a few new friends. S’mores, anyone?

9. End the Day with a Movie Under the Stars

Cap off your perfect day with a family-friendly movie under the stars by the pool. Grab some cozy blankets, cuddle up, and enjoy a classic Disney film. It’s the perfect ending to a magical day at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
